Tiraspol informed that the representatives of Transnistria are not disposed to take part in the next round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format. As the acting OSCE Chairmanship proposed, the next round of 5+2 talks was to take place in Vienna on September 11-12, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Reintegration Office.
According to the communiqué, Tiraspol suggested holding separate consultations with the mediators and observers in Chisinau and Tiraspol instead of the round of negotiations.
The Moldovan authorities ascertained with regret that such an approach on the part of the Transnistrian region significantly affects the settlement process and limits the dialogue possibilities. “For the third time this year, Tiraspol creates different artificial preconditions that lead to the postponement of the rounds of talks,” reads the communiqué.
Tiraspol’s attempt to solve the invoked problems by imposing conditions cannot produce the expected result. It only affects the atmosphere of confidence and hampers the identification of solutions. Moreover, such an approach runs counter to the principles and procedures of the talks in the 5+2 format (the non-imposition of conditions).
Chisinau firmly pleads for the unconditional continuation of the dialogue within all the existing formats, without creating artificial blockages. Therefore, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov is taking part in the meeting of the political representatives that will take place in Tiraspol today, September 4, to reiterate Moldova’s position on the given subject.
