Parliament appointed a new director of the Security and Intelligence Service and a new president of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Vasile Botnari was named SIS director for a five-year term. Until recently, he headed the Administration Board of SA “Moldovagaz”. He also served as an MP, minister of information and communication technology and minister of transport and road infrastructure.
Answering MPs’ questions, Vasile Botnari said he was a member of the Democratic Party, but now does not form part of any party. He pledged to work in strict compliance with the law and to defend the state interests, IPN reports.
Ion Druta was appointed president of the Supreme Court of Justice for a four-year term. Druta was the only candidate who took part in the contest to fill the post held by the Superior Council of Magistracy.
