News for users of short-range radiocommunication devices

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology extended the number of frequency bands for short-range radiocommunication devices. These include nonspecific radio equipment, data detection and collection systems and road traffic control systems, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Agency, a decision to this effect was approved by the institution’s Administrative Board in a public meeting last weekend. The decision will take effect when it is published in the Official Gazette.

The new decision defines the frequency bands for 14 types of short-range devices/equipment, which can be freely used for radio applications. The users of these frequencies are obliged to meet the technical requirements laid down in the regulations entitled “Technical broadcast parameters of short-range devices”.

The short-range devices are radio frequency transmitter devices used in telecommunication for the transmission of information, which have low capability of causing harmful interference to other radio equipment. These are low-power transmitters whose useful range is limited to few hundred meters and that do not require a license from its user. Applications for short-range wireless devices include power meters and other remote instrumentation, radio-controlled models, fire, security and social alarms, vehicle radars, wireless microphones and earphones, traffic signs and signals, etc.
