Newly appointed ministers to start work Monday

On Monday, January 17, the freshly appointed ministers will come together for an operative meeting, after which, on Wednesday, January 19, the Cabinet will formally hold its inaugural meeting. This was announced by Prime Minister Vlad Filat after an informal meeting with the Cabinet members on Friday evening, after the approval by the Parliament of the new Government, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the end of the meeting, which was held behind closed doors, PM Filat said its purpose was to get better acquainted with the Cabinet members. The premier said he was pleased by the set of values which lay at the basis of the new Government. Vlad Filat stressed that the principles of continuity and professionalism would be further taken into account when appointing the deputy ministers and the heads of the government agencies. Filat said he gave instructions to the relevant Government actors to finalize the draft acts and decisions which have been developed lately so that they can be submitted to the Government for consideration. The premier also recalled Moldova's commitments toward the development partners, stressing the need to make adequate preparations for the forthcoming visit of EU home affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom, on January 24-25. “The Commissioner will not only hand us the Action Plan on visa liberalization, but we will also discuss in detail issues related to justice and internal affairs. This is why we need to be very well prepared”, said Vlad Filat.
