The body of a newborn baby was discovered floating on a pond in Hajdieni village of Glodeni district. District prosecutor Ruslan Canila has told Info-Prim Neo that the police were informed about the discovery by villagers. The baby was wrapped in a towel and tied with a pair of shorts around the neck. Most probably, he was asphyxiated. As the body was in an advanced stage of putrefaction, the medical examiners could not establish the age of the child, but determined that he had been in the water for about a month. The cause of death has not been found out yet. The child weighed 2.5 kilograms and was 51 centimeter high. A newborn baby of about 39-40 weeks was found covered in a woolen shirt among bushes between Cuhnesti and Movileni villages of Glodeni district this January. The child died from hypothermia. The woman who gave birth to him was not identified.
