New windows installed in over 200 apartment buildings in Chisinau

The windows in common areas in over 200 apartment buildings in Chisinau were replaced within the MoREEFF (Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Financing Facility) Program. For the purpose, the municipal housing management companies used 10.2 million lei, 3.5 million of which represents the grant component, while the rest is the bank loan obtained within the Program, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said the managers of the given blocks also performed repair works in the over 700 stairs where the windows were replaced. The MoREEFF Program encourages first of all the implementation of energy efficiency technologies in houses and aims to help the dwellers and householders in Moldova to reduce energy consumption and bills.

The energy efficiency project is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) through the MoREEFF Program. In Chisinau, the Program was launched at the end of 2014 and will be implemented during five years.

In the case of blocks from the municipal housing sector, the costs are covered from the tariff paid for maintaining the building by each apartment apart. Managers of the municipal housing sector can take part in the project by filing applications to the MoREEFF Program.
