New wave of migration of medical personnel in Transnistria
The Transnistrian region witnesses a new wave of migration of medical personnel. The people leave for Russia and Ukraine, where the salaries are five-six times or even higher, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent in Transnistria reports.
In May, the region’s health minister Igor Tkachenko said that if the salaries in the health sector are not increased, the medical workers will resign en mass.
The average salary in the budgetary sphere in Transnistria is about 1,100 Transnistrian rubles (1,294 lei).
Officials of the Transnistrian legislature say that the salaries of budget-paid employees should be raised to 350-500 dollars because the prices of food products and fuel are constantly increasing. The region’s parliament has already worked out a bill, which provides for the rise in the salaries in healthcare, education and legal system in 2009. The bill will be discussed during the next session of the parliament, which will start after the summer holidays of the MPs.
