New water pumping station started work in Durlesti
A new water pumping station has been put in commission in Durlesti town that forms part of the municipality of Chisinau. The new facility enables to connect the local sewerage system to the municipal one. The local wastewater treatment station will be closed, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Chisinau City Hall’s Public Relations Division.
The project was implemented in partnership with the State Ecological Fund with the financial resources of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. According to the company’s director Constantin Becciev, the Chisinau wastewater treatment station works at a capacity of 40%. Thus, the stations from the suburban settlements can be connected to it. Besides, the residual waters will no more pollute the environment as the wastewater treatment station in Durlesti is old and nonfunctional.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said the fact that SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” extends its work to the suburbs is very important. He stressed that the example of Durlesti will be followed by other settlements, including Cricova, Ciorescu, and Bubuieci.
According to the deputy mayor, such a practice can be implemented all over the country in order to have unpolluted and green areas in the future.
In 2011, the municipal authorities will use 97 million lei to improve the water supply and sewerage services. 70 million lei of this sum will go to satisfy the needs of the suburbs.
