New Vrancea earthquake shakes Moldova

An earthquake measuring 4.3 degrees on the Richter scale occurred in the Vrancea region, at a depth of 80 km, in the morning of November 21.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Chisinau Institute of Geology and Seismology Ion Ilies said the quake happened at 08.38 and was felt in Vrancea, Bucharest and Constanta. In Chisinau, the earthquake’s intensity was by one degree lower. Only the sensitive persons felt it.

A 5.5-degree quake rocked the Vrancea region on October 6. It was the strongest in the last four years and was felt in Bucharest, northern Bulgaria and in Moldova. Thirteen quakes measuring between 2.7 and 3.8 degrees on the Richter scale happened in Vrancea in November.
