The new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Kent D. Logsdon, was sworn in on December 28 in Washington, D.C. Ambassador Logsdon will arrive in Moldova soon to lead the Embassy team “in continuing to strengthen the U.S.-Moldovan bilateral relationship our two countries have built over the last 30 years”, the U.S. Embassy said in a press release.
He will be joined in Chisinau by his wife, Michelle, a recently retired Foreign Service Officer.
Ambassador Logsdon is originally from Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from the University of Notre Dame.
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Logsdon most recently served as the Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment and prior to that was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Energy Resources. He was also the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, Germany, serving as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. from January 2017 to May 2018.
Ambassador Logsdon speaks Russian, Ukrainian, Thai, and German. He is studying Romanian.
