New U.S. Ambassador to Moldova presents credentials

Newly instated United States Ambassador Asif J. Chaudhry presented on Monday, September 8, his credentials to Moldova's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from MFA. The head of the Moldovan diplomacy greeted the new ambassador with earnest congratulations, assuring him of full support from the Moldovan authorities throughout his term in office. At the meeting, there were addressed topical subjects on the bilateral relations' agenda, in particular, cooperation in settling the Transnistrian issue, Moldova's participation in the programs run by the Millennium Challenge Corp., promotion of democratic reforms and Moldova's European integration aspirations. The U.S. ambassador assured the Moldovan government of his country's support in constantly developing bilateral relations with the Republic of Moldova, expressing his willingness to make every effort to contribute in realizing diverse joint initiatives. The American diplomat pointed out that the position of the United States on the Transnistrian issue remained attached to a sustainable political settlement of the conflict, which would respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, the quoted press release reads.
