New U.S. Ambassador arrived in Moldova

The new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Kent Doyle Logsdon came to Chisinau. The official is eager to travel through the country, to get to know the people and to continue to strengthen the partnership between the United States and Moldova. The diplomat and his wife were met at the Embassy with bread, salt and Moldovan wine, according to tradition, IPN reports

In a video message, the ambassador related in Romanian that he has two children who study at the university and who will visit the Republic of Moldova during the vacation. Kent Doyle Logsdon first left the United States when he was 16 for a lyceum exchange program in Germany. That experience revealed the importance of knowing other nations and cultures. That’s why he became a diplomat.

“I spent a large part of my diplomatic career working in Eastern Europe. In 2003, I visited Chisinau for the first time. I’m convinced that the partnership between our countries is strong and will be even stronger. I’m eager to extend our partnership based on common values, such as our respect for democracy and human rights. We support entrepreneurship and the rule of law and the importance of an economy that functions for everyone,” stated the ambassador.

Kent Doyle Logsdon also said that during the first weeks of his tenure, he will have meetings with political leaders and representatives of the business community and civil society and also with personalities from the fields of mass media and culture.

Kent Doyle Logsdon was appointed Ambassador to Moldova by the U.S. President Joe Biden. The diplomat succeeds Dereck J. Hogan who held this post since 2018.
