The first five trolleybuses bought by the Chisinau administration from a Belarusian plant arrived in the capital city. At the railway terminal, they were met by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and the head of the Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci, Info-Prim Neo reports. The wheels and lights of the trolleybuses are brought separately so as not to be damaged. They will be installed on the spot. The new units of transport have low floor and wheelchair access. They also have electronic ad posting and ticket collection system and three double doors. The working life of a trolleybus is 10 years. “It depends on us how we will keep them,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The new trolleybuses will start to run on routes after 15 more units of transport get to Chisinau. Five trolleybuses will arrive next week. The Chisinau City Hall purchased 102 trolleybuses from Belkommunmash within a project to modernize the public transport in the municipality. The project is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and the European Union. All the trollyebuses will be brought to Chisinau by June 1.
