The Public Amenities Division of Chisinau has purchased five new tractors with blades and brushes for cleaning snow from sidewalks and five attachable salt spreaders that will be used to spread antiskid material on sidewalks and roads inside yards of apartment buildings.
Vasile Efros, head of the Division’s Cleanup Section, has told IPN that a tender contest was held to buy the machines. This was won by a Moldovan company. The tractors are of Japanese make, while the accessories, such as carts, trailers and frontal baskets, were made in Poland. The salt spreaders were made in Moldova.
The new equipment cost about 4 million lei.
The Division also has 27 tractors and 12 Hako machines used in snow removal works. Also, 350 workers clean the snow manually.
