The new term deposits this February came to 2.186,8 billion lei, an increase of 2.1% on last February. The new deposits of private individuals represented 71.7%. 63.4% of the deposits were attracted in national currency, while 36.6% in foreign currencies, IPN reports, quoting the National Bank of Moldova.
Deposits repayable in six to twelve months represented 40.7% of all the term deposits. Private individuals’ deposits for such a term continued 35% of all the deposits.
The average rate on deposits in national currency was 4.98%, while on deposits in foreign currencies – 0.37%.
Compared with the previous month, the average rate on new term deposits in national currency rose by 0.11 percentage points. The legal entities made deposits at an average rate of 3.04%, the private individuals practicing entrepreneurial activities – at an average rate of 3.50%, while private individuals – at an average rate of 5.87%.
The average rate in new deposits attracted in foreign currencies remained the same. Legal entities made deposits at an average rate of 0.49%, private individuals of 0.34%, while private individuals practicing entrepreneurial activities didn’t make such deposits.
The interest margin on operations in national currency was 4.23 percentage points, whole in foreign currencies – 3.76 percentage points.
