The Government approved the national program for the prevention and diminution of mortality and morbidity of children by congenital malformations and hereditary diseases for 2013-2017, which was drafted by the Ministry of Health, IPN reports.
Under the program, there will be implemented new technology for diagnosing and preventing congenital malformations and hereditary diseases and created a committee for the supervision and ensuring of its functioning. The monitoring system will be reorganized at national level.
According to the World Health Organization, 5% of the newborns in Moldova suffer from hereditary diseases.
