President Igor Dodon on March 10 signed a decree concerning the new composition of the Supreme Security Council. The presidential administrant said representatives of the leadership of political parties weren’t included in the Council, as they used to do earlier, IPN reports.

The Supreme Security Council will consist of ex-officio members and persons who form part of the President’s staff.

The Council is headed by the President of Moldova. Adviser to the President on national security and defense Artur Gumeniuc will serve as the Council’s secretary. The Council will also include Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, chairman of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order Roman Botan, Minister of the Inferior Alexandru Jizdan, director of the Security and Intelligence Service Mihai Balan, Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen, National Bank governor Sergiu Cioclea and secretary general of the President’s staff Ruslan Flocea.

The first meeting of the new Council will be convened soon. The investigation of the theft of the US$1 billion will be among the important items from the agenda.
