New Supreme Council of Magistrates chairman will be elected after Nicolae Timofti is sworn in
The new chairman of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (SCM) will be elected only after Nicolae Timofti is sworn in as President, Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim, who is a member of the Council, has told Info-Prim Neo.
The Supreme Council of Magistrates chairman is elected by a majority of votes of the Council members. The candidate must poll not less than seven votes. The voting will involve the 11 members that will remain in the Council after Nicolae Timofti is sworn in. Or the SCM chairman will be elected after the Assembly of Judges designates the 12th member of the Council.
Nicolae Timofti will hold the post of SCM chairman until he is invested as head of state. The Constitutional Court will pronounce on the results of the presidential elections on March 19.
