A new section with 35 beds for patients with pneumonia and respiratory diseases was opened at the “Holy Trinity" Municipal Hospital as the number of admissions to the hospital increased, deputy head of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division Vladimir Bolocan stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.
According to Bolocan, although a reduction in admissions was anticipated during the school holiday, the decrease was only 3% and additional measures were needed.
Last week, out of over 3,000 referrals to emergency units, 433 persons were diagnosed with pneumonia and bronchopneumonia and most of them had to be hospitalized.
According to health specialists, viral infections continue to affect children in particular, maintaining maximum pressure on pediatric institutions. If the situation escalates, the municipal authorities will ask for additional support from the Ministry of Health.
