The Ministry of Education aims to review the school curriculum. Emphasis will be put on the knowledge of modern languages and computer and on the development of entrepreneurial skills. The announcement was made by Minister of Education Maia Sandu in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
A pilot project is now devised, within which the printed books will be replaced with electronic books. If the project is successful, it will be extended at national level. “Something happens in our secondary schools as the children’s interest diminishes. The teacher in the upper grades must be as good as in the lower grades. We are aware that the school is not attractive because we do not have infrastructure, books,” said Maia Sandu.
She also said that a system change is needed. This will happen when there is the possibility of choosing. “We know that the conditions now are not the best. We need an entirely new program. We encounter difficulties in attracting young specialists to the system. Those who come disappear after we train them,” stated the minister.
Maia Sandu also said that the Ministry plans to gradually eliminate colleges. In the future there will be only high school and master’s degree studies.
