The dwellers of apartment buildings will have to get the neighbors’ consent if they want to keep a dog or another animal as pet at home. In private homes, the owners will be able to keep at most two dogs in the yard. The dogs will be tied and should be able to move by sliding on a wire. A bill on pets was approved by the Government and is to be passed by Parliament.
The number of young animals, up to the age of three months, and of decorative species of fish, birds and mice is not restricted. The animals, especially the dogs, must be vaccinated and must have a medical records book. The dogs of such races as Pit Bull, Boerboel and Bandog that are considered dangerous will have to be neutered.
The stray dogs will also be neutered. Only the sick animals will be euthanized. The bill stipulates a number of obligations for the local public authorities, which are to build shelters for animals that remained temporarily without an owner.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said that in the Ministry’s appraisal that covers three pages, he formulated a series of objections and suggestions to the bill and asked taking them into account during the debate in Parliament.
