New rules applying to foreign citizens who hold identity documents issued in Moldova will take effect on April 1. The General Inspectorate for Migration announced essential changes in the process of issuing IDs according to the amendments introduced by Law No. 68/2024, IPN reports.
The main change is that the loose leaves accompanying identity cards and residence permits will become null and void. Also, identity documents will no longer contain information about domicile or temporary residence on the back. Within 15 days, foreigners will be further obliged to inform the Inspectorate about any change of address.
During the transition period, between February 17 and April 1, the simultaneous submission of files for granting the right of residence and being issued with identity documents will be suspended. Moreover, during March 25-31, the one-stop shops that issue IDs to foreign citizens will not work and will reopen after April 1.
The General Inspectorate for Migration assures that these changes are meant to streamline the process of issuing documents and to facilitate adaptation to the new regulations.
