New round of talks with agenda fully discussed

After a new round of negotiations on March 18, the negotiators said that the discussions were constructive and the proposed agenda was discussed fully, IPN reports.

”The discussions were constructive. We agreed to continue the talks. We are analyzing things and will draw conclusions. Speed is not the most important element. The most important is for the re-formed alliance to be functional,” the negotiator on behalf of the Lib-Dems, acting Foreign Minister IurieLeanca said after the meeting.

The Liberal Party’s negotiator ValeriuMunteanu said that a new round of negotiations will take place on March 19. “The agenda planned for today was discussed. There are many problems and mechanisms that should be considered,” he stated.

TheDemocratic Party’s representative, acting Minister of the Economy ValeriuLazar said that they are discussing the mechanism for ensuring the functioning of the future government. “We cannot give details. It is the result, not the process that counts. We are negotiating the alliance functioning mechanism. We want better, more efficient governance,” he said, adding that they do not discuss the distribution of posts or institutions.

The negotiations on the constitution of a new parliamentary majority started exactly one month after the Lib-Dems withdrew from the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. The former alliance colleagues must agree a candidate for premiership following the resignation of the Government.
