Two rooms for interviewing victims of human trafficking have been opened inside the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the victims, including the minor ones, will have psychological contact with only one specialist, in an environment that inspires safety and confidence, IPN reports.
The special places for interviewing minors were outfitted with audio-video equipment so that the child (victim) will be protected during investigations and will be less exposed to traumatizing experiences of speaking in front of more witnesses while elucidating the experienced or known situation.
To avoid a negative and traumatizing experience for minors, these will be questioned in special conditions and will be sure that they will no longer meet the abuser face-to-face, while the recordings will be used in trials whenever it is necessary, without the minors being interviewed again.
The interviewing rooms were equipped according to international standards in the field with support from the foreign partners, namely the U.S. Embassy, IOM Mission to Moldova and OSCE and are a ring of the friendly legal system that tends to avoid re-victimization and to ensure the rights of victims are respected.
