New Romanian Ambassador to Moldova could be named before Traian Basescu's visit to Chisinau

Romania could appoint a new Ambassador to Moldova before Romanian President Traian Basescu's visit to Chisinau, Moldova's Caretaker President Mihai Ghimpu said during a TV program, Info-Prim Neo reports. The appointment of the Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau and Moldovan Ambassador in Bucharest is one of the issues that could be decided before the meeting of the two heads of state scheduled for the second half of January. Mihai Ghimpu said the topics that will be discussed during Romanian President's visit to Chisinau include the opening of the Romanian consulates in Balti and Cahul, the coming into force of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic, energy and security-related issues. “This visit will lay the foundations of a friendship relation between Moldova and Romania, as between brothers,” Ghimpu said. Traian Basescu will come to Chisinau at the invitation of Mihai Ghimpu.
