New road built between Festelita and Marianca de Jos villages of Stefan Voda district

A new road connects the villages Festelita and Marianca de Jos villages of Stefan Voda district. The artery will also ensure connection with the Chisinau-Causeni national road, facilitating the residents’ access to the district center and the border crossing point Palanca. The road was built within a regional development project, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

In the project completion event, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Liviu Volconovici said the ensuring of the people’s access to modern infrastructure and public services of a high quality remains a priority of the state. It is an objective that will contribute to enhanced competitiveness of the national economy and to the people’s welfare if it is achieved.

“By building this road, we aimed to ensure access to the agricultural market in Festelita for the people who live in the neighboring villages, such as Marianca de Jos, Copceac, Alava, Volintiri, Semionovca and Brezoaia. We also aimed to ensure the business entities’ access to new markets in Chisinau, Causeni, Cimislia and Odessa,” stated the minister.

Maria Kuleshov, director of the South Regional Development Agency, said a modern road offers the people not only safety and convenience, but also the possibility of travelling faster and cheaper. It is a stimulus to remain in the native village and to start a business. “Owing to the new road, the citizens will have swift access to the emergency services, such as the firefighters, ambulances and the police, while the children could any time travel to the arts school in Festelita on a better road, in conditions of maximum safety and comfort,” stated Maria Kuleshov.

“The inhabitants of Festelita and Marianca de Jos villages will no longer need to cover daily by 22 km on foot to get from one village to another. By building this road, their chances for a better life and a European future increased. A good road for a community definitely means life and a future as this will be able to attract investment and to develop thanks to this,” said the mayor of Festelita Nicolae Tudoreanu.

The project to the value of 19 million lei was financed with money from the National Regional Development Fund.
