Acting prosecutor general Ion Munteanu submitted to Parliament a new request to lift the parliamentary immunity of Marina Tauber. This time, the lawmaker is accused of interfering with the administration of justice, IPN reports.
At the beginning of the Parliament’s sitting on Thursday, Speaker Igor Grosu said that the interim prosecutor general’s request came on Wednesday. It was requested that the parliamentary immunity be lifted in order to send to court the criminal case started against Marina Tauber over interference with the administration of justice.
The acting prosecutor general’s request is to be examined first by the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities.
Marina Tauber was earlier stripped of parliamentary immunity and faced other charges, including falsification of campaign and party finance reports and acceptance of illegal funding from an organized criminal group. In accordance with the procedures, a new process of immunity lifting is required for each charge.
