The new regulations concerning the registration of motor vehicles and trailers was published in the Official Gazette on August 4, 2017, IPN reports.
Under the regulations, the owners of vehicles are obliged to have these registered before they are put into circulation. If the vehicle owners are older than 14, the registration operation is performed in their name at the request of parents, adopters or guardians. If the owners are aged between 14 and 18, the requests will be made by them in person, accompanied by the consent of parents, adopters or guardians.
The vehicles imported into Moldova are registered in the name of legal entities and private individuals for which customs documents were issued. The restriction does not apply to vehicles imported by business entities that sell vehicles and to vehicles imported by private individuals and transmitted to wives, children and parents or to enterprises founded by them.
To register the vehicle permanently or temporarily, the applicant will have to submit an application, the document that confirms ownership of the vehicle or trailer, the identity card, the proof of the regular vehicle overhaul and of the payment of the road tax and copy of the mandatory civil liability insurance for damage caused by motor vehicles.
The regulations were adopted as a Government decision on the reorganization of the automated search information system “Automobile” in the State Register of Transport on July 24 and take effect when the conditions needed for putting the new-type registration certificates into circulation are created, but not later than March 1, 2018.
