New project aims to offer a chance to youths lacking opportunities

“A chance for the young people deprived of opportunities” is the theme and major aim of a new project launched by the Regional Information and Assistance Project of the nongovernmental organization Contact-Cahul, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the NGO. The project aims to improve the situation of 28 underprivileged young people aged between 16 and 18 from Cahul district. Within ten months, these youths will benefit from support and social, psycho-pedagogical and legal services. The adolescents will attend professional qualification courses to learn a job that is in demand on the local labor market and theoretical-practical sessions and will take part in interactive activities designed to form the main life habits. The project will focus on an individualized approach to the beneficiaries so that every young person has a personalized course connected with the personal needs and necessities outside the general program. The project is intended for young people that have completed at least five classes in the towns or villages of Cahul district who are deprived of parental care as one or both of the parents are abroad, are from mono or non-parent families or from very poor and marginalized families. The Contact Center was founded in 1995 at the initiative of Soros – Moldova Foundation in cooperation with the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES - Moldova) and Centras – Romania to strengthen the nongovernmental sector in Moldova. The Center aims to consolidate the civil society by creating a powerful and viable network of nongovernmental organizations. It pleads for a real, efficient and open dialogue between the governmental and nongovernmental sectors.
