The Government instituted a new professional holiday. The Forensic Expert’s Day will be celebrated in Moldova on April 14, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari, the Law on Legal Expertise passed in 2016 conferred a special status on the forensic expert. These specialists help put to good use evidence in trials through scientific methods. In this regard, the legal expert plays a key role in finding the truth and formulating conclusions.

The Law on Legal Expertise defines the criteria for being allowed to work as a forensic expert. These include an irreproachable reputation and professional development courses of 40 hours a year. A special commission will be set up to examine the deviations in the work of legal experts. To be able to work, the legal experts need a license.

The law was adopted on April 14. The Forensic Expert’s Day will represent a precondition for recognizing the role of the legal expert in legal proceedings. Also, the general public will be able to know more about this profession.
