The candidates with the biggest chances of winning the October 30 presidential elections are Igor Dodon (PSRM), Maia Sandu (PAS), Marian Lupu (PDM) and Andrei Nastase (PPPDA), shows a poll made public by the Center for Sociological Research of Moldova on October 12, IPN reports.
92% of the respondents said they will go to vote, but the study authors note that the poll questions are usually answered by active persons who take part in elections.
Asked who they think is the most suitable candidate for President, 15% of those polled said Igor Dodon, 9% – Maia Sandu, 7% – Marian Lupu, while 6% – Andrei Nastase.
When asked to choose from a list of candidates, over 28% of those surveyed to the same question answered Igor Dodon, almost 16% – Maia Sandu, over 12% – Marian Lupu, while slightly under 12% - Andrei Nastase. 5% of the respondents would vote for Iurie Leanca (PPEM), 4% for Dumitru Chubashenko (PPPN), 2.2% for Ana Gutu (Party “The Right”), while 2% for Mihai Ghimpu (PL).
Asked about the qualities of the future President, most of the respondents mentioned honesty, intelligence and patriotism. The largest part of those questioned said they would rather choose an intelligent, pro-European and statehood supporting man with experience.
If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, over 25% of those interviewed would vote for the PSRM, over 15% for the PAS, over 12% the PDM, over 9% for the PPPDA, more than 6% for the PPPN, 4% for the PPEM, 2.5% for the PCRM, while 2.2% for the PL.
To the question with two geopolitical options, 51% of the respondents answered that they want Moldova to enter the European Union, while 48% want Moldova to join the Eurasian Union. The others could not pronounce. 12% of those polled said they are for the union with Romania, 22% consider this union would be welcome from economic viewpoint, while 17% said they are against. 31% believe the country will gain nothing if it unites with Romania, while 18% disapprove of it.
65% of those surveyed said the direction followed by the country is wrong. The respondents are mainly preoccupied with the low salaries, corruption and high prices of products.
The Center for Sociological Research of Moldova carried out the poll between September 21 and October 8. This covered a sample of 1,500 persons. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
