A number of 518 platforms for collecting household waste will be modernized or built within a project initiated by the Chisinau City Hall in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, based on a grant provided by the National Ecological Fund. Ten of these platforms will be underground ones. There will also be purchased 490 new containers. The total value of the project is 27 million lei, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Chisinau City Hall says it aims to set up the platforms for collecting household waste in harmony with nature. The platform’s foundation will include a hydro-isolation layer to prevent polluted water from penetrating soil. The platforms contain wooden elements in design. The areas around these will be greened.

The local authorities call on the population to accurately use the new platforms so that they are used as long as possible.
