The ignoring of the obligation to transmit the copy of the construction authorization to the State Construction Inspectorate and to begin the construction works after notifying the Inspectorate will be fined 800 to 1,600 lei in the case of private individuals and 1,200 to 2,400 lei in the case of legal entities.

Relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses were approved by the Government on October 29, IPN reports. In a news conference that preceded the Government’s meeting, representatives of civil society warned that the imposition of these penalties runs counter to the roadmap for removing the constraints to businesses.

Asked to comment on these concerns, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that not the economic entities, but the issuing institutions – the mayor’s offices - will be obliged to inform the State Construction Inspectorate about the issued construction authorization.
