The Cabinet approved the draft Law on Museums whose goal is to modernize and improve the work of the museums of Moldova, IPN reports.

The document regulates the founding, classification and financing of museums and specifies their assets. A procedure for accrediting, reorganizing and liquidating museums was introduced with the aim of efficient monitoring the activity of museums.

There will be created the Methodological Museography Center that will provide assistance to the competent institutions. Also, the Ministry of Culture will cooperate with the Ministry of Education in training specialists in the field and in introducing museums’ educational programs in the school curriculum.

The Law on Museums was drafted to ensure the fulfillment by Moldova of the commitments assumed through the Association Agreement with the EU and in accordance with the Strategy for Developing Culture “Cultura 2020”.
