The Republic of Moldova can be energy independent and will become energy independent and joint efforts on known directions and objectives are needed for the purpose, the newly invested Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu stated after the inauguration ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, IPN reports.
Dorin Junghietu said that he will focus on the objectives set by the country's administration. One of them is to ensure the continuity of the supply of natural gas and electricity for the citizens, at optimal and decreasing costs. Streamlining the implementation of investment projects in renewables, production capacity and energy efficiency projects is another objective.
Emphasis will be placed on the works on the Vulcănești-Chisinau power line, according to schedule. In this regard, the minister said that he will make field trips as soon as possible to assess the situation. According to him, preliminary information shows an advanced physical progress, but the conditions outside make the works difficult at present.
Asked by journalists about a possible decrease in electricity charges, the minister said that this is a rather sensitive subject in society. According to him, the market situation at the moment is quite interesting and dynamic, and prices vary depending on demand, but optimal purchasing strategies are needed.
Dorin Junghietu was also asked about the situation at Moldovagaz, where he won the contest for the position of chairman of the company's Board of Directors.
"When I participated in this contest, there were particular circumstances. But Gazprom delayed the approval for some reason. At this moment, I will focus on the entire energy system, on all the enterprises operating in the country. My role and priorities will focus on the entire energy system of the Republic of Moldova," said the minister.
The position of minister of energy remained vacant after Victor Parlicov was dismissed at the beginning of last December. The energy portfolio was taken over by Prime Minister Recean, who requested Parlicov's dismissal.
