New Minister of Education hits reforms
The Ministry of Education will add to its structure one extra Deputy Minister and sever other staff units. A decision to this end e was adopted by the Government at yesterday’s meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The new staffers will work in already existing subdivisions or services, or in newly formed ones. For example, the internal audit division will be strengthened; also, a school inspection service will be formed, and a division for post-graduate and life-long studies, and others.
Taking into account the austerity of the budget, some Ministers had reservations in approving these decisions, but the newly appointed Minister of Education Maia Sandu pointed towards the complexity of the reforms to be implemented and the necessity for strengthening the team.
“The costs of paying these staff units’ work are estimated at 550,000 lei, but we are not asking for additional allocations; we will fit into the salary fund we have”, she said.
