The Bureau for Reintegration has expressed its concern in relation to the military maneuvers organized near Tiraspol on August 16-17 by the self-proclaimed Transnistrian military forces together with the Operative Group of Russian Troops. The Bureau says such actions are illegal and inadmissible on Moldovan territory, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the institution, the intense coverage by Transnistrian mass media of the military exercises and the participation of some leaders of the unrecognized republic indicate that the regional situation is aggravating.
“Such provocations undermine the existing peacekeeping mechanisms and are incompatible with the logic of the negotiation process for the settlement of the Transnistrian issue. It is an open defiance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, reads the official press release.
The Bureau for Reintegration warns that the recent and frequent military maneuvers taking place in Transnistria are proof of an enhanced collaboration between Russian troops and the separatist militias. This requires the intensification of efforts to achieve the unconditional withdrawal from our territory of foreign troops that do not have an accepted legal status, together with their ammo supplies, while respecting constitutional provisions and current international commitments.
