The Cabinet approved new measures to protect the children in the virtual environment and the amendment of the law on the protection of children against the negative impact of information. Thus, the Internet service providers will be obliged to offer the users the possibility of installing applications for filtering out the Internet content with a negative impact on children. They will also be obliged to create special chapters with information about online safety on their websites, IPN reports.
According to a study conducted by the Center for Investigations and Consultation “SocioPolis”, the hacking of the account on social networking sites is the main problem faced in the virtual environment. Each fifth child aged between 12 and 15 experienced such cases. The blocking by groups of social networking sites was mentioned by 18.6% of the children, while the involuntary accessing of images or a sexual character – by 16.3%. One third of the children look for friends online. 30% make purchases online, while 13% buy games online. Many of the children do not know about the risks confronting them in the virtual environment.
