The residents of Bucuria village of Cahul district and those of Galesti village of Straseni district on October 30 elected their mayor. In Bucuria, the victory was won by Dmitri Dermenji of the Democratic Party, who gained 72.82% of the vote. Independent candidate Nicolae Budu won the mayoral elections in Galesti with 72.47% of the ballot. The second round of mayoral elections will be held in another two villages, IPN has learned from the Central Election Commission.
The second round will take place in Iserlia village of Basarabeasca district, where Ludmila Rotari of “Our Party” and independent Maria Kvasnitskaya will struggle for mayoralty, and in Galaseni, Rascani, where Oleg Ureche of the Democratic Party will face Vadim Cotuc of the Liberal Democratic Party.
In the first round of voting in the two villages, none of the candidates won at least half of the cast ballots to emerge victorious.
