The inhabitants of Jora de Mijloc commune of Orhei district are to choose their mayor on May 20, 2018. A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission in its October 31 meeting, IPN reports.

The Commission’s president Alina Russu said the post of mayor fell vacant following the death of Ion Terentii, who managed the mayor’s office since 2011, being reelected in 2015.

Earlier, the Commission decided that new local mayoral elections on May 20, 2018 will also be held in Leuseni village of Hancesti district and Volovita village of Soroca district. In the two villages, the persons resigned from mayoralty.
