New local partial elections will take place two times a year

The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided that new local partial elections will be held two times a year, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the electoral authority. Under the Commission’s decision, new local elections will take place two times a year, on the second Sunday of May and November. Such a decision was taken in order to meet Article 139, paragraph (3) of the Election Code, which says that the new elections are held simultaneously at most two times a year, in spring and in autumn. In the same meeting, the CEC decided that the new local mayoral elections in Falesti town of Falesti district and in Hanasenii Noi village of Leova district will take place on November 13, 2011. It also approved the calendar program of these elections. The term in office of the mayor of Falesti town expired earlier owing to the incompatibility of the post held, while of the mayor of Hanasenii Noi – following his resignation.
