New local mayoral elections will be held in Ochiul Ros village of Anenii Noi district and in Sarata-Galbena village of Hancesti district on May 15. A polling place was set up in Ochiul Ros for the 346 voters to exercise their right to vote. In Sarata-Galbena, there were established five polling places, for the 4,536 residents eligible to vote, IPN reports.

According to the Central Election Commission, the election contenders in Ochiul Ros are: Alexandr Rosco of the Political Party “Our Home - Moldova”; Inga Greiter of the Democratic Party of Moldova; Maria Ostapenco of the Party of Socialists, and Anatoli Scorta of the Party of Communists.

The election runners in Sarata-Galbena are: Ion Jechiu of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova; Mihail Amerberg of the Political Party “Our Home - Moldova”; Mihail Lozovoi of the Democratic Party of  Moldova; Sergiu Moraru of the Party of Communists, and Valeriu Taras of the Liberal Party.

Over 137,000 lei was allocated from the state budget for organizing and holding the new local elections of May 15. The term in office of the mayor of Sarata-Galbena ended before time owing to the incompatibility of the post of mayor with that of the seat of MP. The mayor of Ochiul Ros resigned for health reasons.
