New local mayoral elections will take place in Horodiște village of Rezina district on May 15, 2022. A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.

According to the Commission, the post of mayor was vacated by resignation.

On May 15, new local elections will also be held in Ghetlova commune of Orhei district.

The Electoral Code provides that the new local elections are set within 30 days of the ascertaining of the circumstances stipulated by law and at least 60 days before elections day, on condition that new elections will be held concomitantly at most two times a year, in spring and in autumn.

This autumn on November 21, new local mayoral elections will be held in 15 communities in Moldova, including Bălți.
