The new local elections for the post of mayor of the municipality of Bălți will take place on November 21. A decision to this effect was adopted by the Central Election Commission on September 7, after taking note of the vacancy of the mayor of Bălți, IPN reports.
The elections will be held because the mayor tendered his resignation on September 2 and this took effect on September 3.
The ex-mayor of Bălți Renato Usatîi argued he decided to resign because he is not satisfied with the results achieved by the Bloc “Renato Usatîi” in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021. Renato Usatîi also said that he will continue to lead an active political life and intends to create another party and new local organizations.
