A new list of compensated drugs is to be approved and made public by the end of this month. Such a request was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a meeting that involved representatives of institutions responsible for implementing the plan of action for solving the problems in the pharmaceutical sector. Pavel Filip expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that a number of actions included in the plan haven’t been yet carried out, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, one of the most important goals was to extend the list of drugs compensated by the state by 50%. The Premier requested the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company to approve a new list of compensated drugs by the end of September.
Pavel Filip noted that the key objective of the governmental team in the field is to bring things in the pharmaceutical sector in order and to make sure that the people have free access to drugs of a high quality and at reasonable prices. According to the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, about 300 new pharmaceutical products were authorized in August alone, the number of dugs included in the Catalogue of Medicines rising to 4,400.
Among other subject discussed in the meeting was the formation and registration of drug prices. There were identified a number of problems that delay the process. In this connection, the Premier asked to clearly delimit the powers of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices so as to prevent blockages. A bill on the issue is to be approved.
Pavel Filip also requested to take measures to ensure the smooth running of the centralized tender contests to deliver drugs and to intensify communication on this segment.
