New limos added to government fleet

Three brand-new limousines destined for the President, Speaker and Prime Minister have arrived in the garages of the State Protection and Guard Service (SPGS) and will be put into service starting next week, Info-Prim Neo reports. Col. Artur Cucer, head of the SPGS transport division, said that all the three Mercedes S-Class limousines are identical and are as comfortable as they are safe and secure. The cars however are not equipped with bulletproof glass, because this would have raised their cost three of four times, said Cucer. The limousines used previously will remain in the fleet to serve foreign official delegations. Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu told reporters he hasn't seen his new car yet because he doesn't see it as a priority. “It wasn't an initiative of Parliament, the Government or the President's Office. It was an initiative of the special services responsible for such issues. It remains to be seen if I accept the new car”, said Marian Lupu. The cars were bought from the budget of the State Protection and Guard Service for €102,000 a piece.
