New lawmakers are being looked for

Young people aged between 18 and 25 who want to get involved in decision making can apply to the National Program “Parliament of the Youth” by February 28, Info-Prim Neo reports. The contest to elect the members of the third Parliament of the Youth was launched on February 9 in a conference that was attended by Speaker and Acting President of Moldova Marian Lupu. The Speaker said the Parliament of the Youth represents the future political class and praised the young people for their activism. He stressed that he counts on this team that represents different ideologies. “It is important to learn the European norms of democracy,” said Marian Lupu. Within the project, the young people accumulate experience in establishing dialogues with young persons from rural areas and analyzing and monitoring political parties’ electoral programs and decisions, said the head of the Youth Governing Institute of Moldova Sergiu Bejenaru. The main selection criteria include knowledge in the political, legal and social spheres, involvement and creativity. The project was rolled out in 2008 by the Youth Governing Institute. The Parliament of the Youth has 101 MPs and 25 substitute lawmakers. Details about the contest are available on www.parlamentultinerilor.md.
