The Superior Council of the Judiciary has appointed Viorica Puica as Constitutional Court judge. Puica, whose previous position was interim president of the Supreme Court of Justice, was appointed following a competition process.
With over 20 years of judicial experience under her belt, Puica was appointed to the Constitutional Court for a term of six years. She was sworn in also today.
The Constitutional Court has six judges, two named by Parliament, two by the Government and two by the self-governing body of the judiciary. One seat became vacant with the death of Judge Eduard Ababei in January 2021.
