New jobs in 20 Moldovan villages
Roughly 2,000 new jobs will be created in the next three years in 20 Moldovan villages, under a project called Job Plus, which aims to help reduce poverty in Moldova by developing public-private partnerships, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Jobs Plus Project is financed by the Argidius Foundation and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Moldova. In a press release from the donors, it was said that businesses will be encouraged to participate in the project by investing in rural communities and creating social enterprises, which will bring gains to the society as well as investors. The inhabitants of the communities will be trained in various occupations to be later employed.
Other goals of the project are to reduce migration, prevent abandonment of children and elderly, and open new markers for the Job Plus member investors. The employers/investors will benefit from technical and financial assistance in the process of developing the social enterprises.
Each community involved in the project will create a social investment fund from monthly contributions from the employers and the beneficiaries. The funds will be managed by a board of trustees created in each community and will serve as a mechanism for attracting additional investment. With the help of these social investment funds, it is supposed that 25 local action plans to improve the social sector in rural communities will be implemented.
