New history textbooks prepared for secondary schools and lyceums

Students in secondary schools and lyceums could have a new history textbook from September 1, which would improve the existing curriculum. Leonid Bujor, Prime Minister’s councilor on education, told Info-Prim Neo that the proposal was discussed at the 1st Congress of Teachers in Moldova, where several Romanian officials participated as well. According to Leonid Bujor, the textbooks will be reedited as part of a Moldovan-Romanian common project. The initiative was discussed with the Romanian President, Traian Basescu, when he visited Moldova in January 2010. Besides the reediting of textbooks, the history curriculum itself will be modernized. It will contain 45% history of Romanians, 5% local and regional history and 50% universal history. Bujor said that the curriculum was improved by a team of historians and teachers from Moldova. Romanian Senator Viorel Badea, State Secretary Eugen Tomac and Romeo Mosoi, councilor of the Romanian Minister of Education, attended the 1st Congress of Teachers in Moldova.
